The purple on the bottom is the same color as the center block and also matches the purple stripe in the border fabric. It can go either way... I like them both!

More Auditioning
As I was wide awake at 6 this morning, I was thinking about this quilt...actually, I woke up several times during the night and also dreamed about this quilt. This is the idea I came up with. This picture just has one of the purples as the middle stripe. It slightly contrasts with the center block.

Hi Kathy,
I agree you can go either way, but I like the darker a little better. Just my opinion. Glad to see you working on the quilt.
I am working on my sister wedding quilt and I can't post pictures on my blog, but I hope she would like it :))
