Ambird Alert!

Noticed this sign at my neighbor's driveway the other day:

That post with nothing on it used to have a raven just like the one in the picture. They have hats most of the time, but at Christmas, they wear Santa hats! I can't believe someone would be so callous as to steal one of them!
Here are the other two on the opposite side of the driveway.

Life is Grand

My blogger friend, Zlaty
has awarded me a "Life is Grand" award.

Yes, Life IS Grand! I will need to list 5 reasons why my life is "Grand" and then pass it on to 5 bloggers.

1. My family is healthy.
2. My husband of 35 years has a good job.
3. We live in our dream house in our little corner of paradise.
4. I have many wonderful, supportive friends.
5. I can quilt, quilt, quilt, to my heart's content and share that love of quilting by teaching in a wonderful quilt shop.

My 5 bloggers that I pass this award on to are:

Pam at Passionate Purple Quilter
Sandi at A Legacy of Stitches
Lady Shuttlemaker at Tatting Tales
Kathryn at Krafter Kat
Suze at The Thread and I

Stash Report Week 8

Because of my equilibrium problem, I didn't get as much done as I wanted to this week. I did have help busting my stash, though. Teresa took 2 more yards of batiks for the puzzle quilt she is making for her dad.

Now for the stash report:

Fabric bought this week: 0 yards
Fabric used this week: 2 yards

Fabric bought YTD: 32 yards
Fabric used YTD: 52.5 yards

Stash busted: I have used 20.5 yards more than I have bought

I also used 2 skeins of yarn in the socks I made and am making another pair of socks!

About those socks...

I knit my socks on 2 circular needles and use the book "Queen Kahuna's Crazy Toes and Heels Socks" by Mary Ann Beattie. They are knit toe up so they fit very well. The yarn is Wildfoote "Symphony" by the Brown Sheep Company. I just love the color!

February Quiltathon

Not getting much of anything done this weekend, or this week for that matter. Tuesday morning I woke and was unable to keep my balance. It got better during the day, but was back Wednesday morning and then again Thursday. Since this has never happened to me before, I was a bit scared so we made an appointment to see our doctor. It only took him a minute of questions and then me following the light with my eyes for a diagnosis. I have a viral infection in my inner ear and there's not much that can be done about it except take dramamine for the wobbliness. We also stopped in and saw the chiropractor and he adjusted my neck and that has helped a lot, but yesterday I rarely emerged from the recliner in the living room as I had a raging headache most of the day. Today is much better, but the energy level is not where it should be.

I did accomplish one thing... made a pair of socks when my eyes would focus!

Since it is a Quiltathon
weekend, I have also been working on a baby quilt for my "tall daughter" Amy. Amy's dad built our house and she went to high school with our daughter and we love her just like she's our own. Once the quilt is finished and off to Amy, I will post a picture, but not until then. I don't want her to see it since she reads my blog :)

Stash Report Week 7

Before I get to this week's stash report, I'd like to post a picture of the off center/curved log cabin. I had Teresa and Siggi hold it up for me so I could snap a picture of the completed top.

Now for the stash report:

Fabric bought this week: 0 yards
Fabric used this week: 11.75 yards

Fabric bought YTD: 32 yards
Fabric used YTD: 50.5 yards

Stash busted: I have used 18.5 yards more than I have bought (whoopeeeee!)

And this is where I used it: My purple scrap quilt which is 76" x 100". She doesn't have a name yet, but she is my favorite purple quilt... at the moment.

And there is this tabletopper/wallhanging I made as a sample for a class I want to teach. It's 36" square, but I think I want to teach a smaller version. So I'm going to remake it to be 24" square.

Stash Report Week 6

Nothing in, nothing out. That doesn't mean I didn't sew, I just don't have anything finished. I pulled out my purples to make myself a new lap quilt and cut a bunch of 5 inch squares. I have enough to make 2 quilts! But I only got 5 blocks finished. Most of the components of the blocks have been made so I think I'll get the top done and a picture posted for next week's report.

So here is the stash report for week 6:

Fabric bought this week: 0 yards
Fabric used this week: 0 yards

Fabric bought YTD: 32 yards
Fabric used YTD: 38.75 yards

Stash busted: Same as last week: I've used 6.75 yards more than I have bought.

Stash Report Week 5

I finished the Curved Log Cabin top and it is in the pile waiting to be quilted. Since it measures 96" x 120", it's too large to get a decent picture of so that will have to wait until it is quilted and I can get people to hold it up for me. One more UFO down!

So here is the stash report for week 5:

Fabric bought this week: 0 yards
Fabric used this week: 13.5 yards

Fabric bought YTD: 32 yards
Fabric used YTD: 38.75 yards

Stash busted: I've used 6.75 yards more than I have bought (yippee!)
