YIPPEE!!!

We've got HDTV... finally... only took the supervisor and his sidekick an hour to figure out the problem was the antenna and get it changed and adjusted. So now we have HD in the living room and regular satellite in my quilt studio. Only minor misinformation was that now they are charging me for this additional room... BUT... they have also given me a $10 a month credit for the next 6 months so it will all even out. It pays to complain :)

Still one of those days :(

No communication from DirecTV and no installation of our HD equipment. Calls are unanswered and the appointment we had for today was a no show.

My friends did come and quilt with me, but I didn't get much done. I'm working on another set of placemats, this set is for my daughter-in-love, Samone.

I did get the shop sample of the Pumpkin wallhanging, a Jackie Robinson pattern, pieced and ready to be quilted.

Susan's "M"

Last December we started pulling up carpet in preparation to install wood floors in our living room and hallway. The concrete underneath was pitiful and we had to do a lot of patching and levelling to get it ready. Finally, the floor was ordered and we commenced to the installation. Our friend, Susan, who has the same floor we were installing, came to help us. For 3 days, we worked on that floor and it is beautiful. To thank Susan for all her help, I made her this wallhanging.

Just one of those days

Ever had one of those days when things just didn't go your way? That's the kind of day I'm having and I'm not having any fun either. We have been trying to upgrade our DirecTV to High Definition so we could watch the Olympics in all it's glory. Well, the Olympics are over and we still don't have HD. It's been one thing after another... first they couldn't put the HD dish where the other one went because it is larger and needs to be braced and we have a metal roof and they won't put screws in our metal roof. So we went to the trouble of putting a very sturdy post in the ground and ran the wire in the attic so their guy didn't have to do it... and he could never get a decent signal so after 5 1/2 hours, he left us with no satellite TV, saying his supervisor would be back today between 10 and 2 to work on it. Did that happen... NO! and I was the one who had to make the phone call to find out why no one showed up... she said the order was cancelled - CANCELLED! No way... so someone is supposed to be here tomorrow between 8 and 12. If not, I'm going to be making a few phone calls and expecting some free programming or credits if I ever get my HD. Damn... I hate automated phone calls! It will probably take a snail mail letter to corporate to get any satisfaction.

So I vented... feel better (a little)

Anyway, I want you all to check out Judy Laquidara's blog. http://www.patchworktimes.com/ I think she is a hoot :)

The Cure for the Summertime Blues

This is a new mystery quilt. I was asked to test this pattern by the designer, Billie Lauder, who is a new friend. I haven't met her face to face yet, but when her schedule allows, we will meet! Billie calls her quilt "Summertime Blues", but I thought the yellow made it too cheery to be a "Blues" quilt, hence the name.

It's 8-8-08!

have been busy making samples for the quilt shop, Busy Bee Quilts. The samples hang in the shop so customers coming in know what classes are being taught. These are classes that are not yet scheduled, but will be soon. Teaching at the shop has been a lot of fun, but I have spent more money than I have earned... imagine that!

These are placemats, sewn in a circle then sewn together and so much fun to make!

I just love this quilt. It's called Heart to Heart and the "Queen Bee" loves the fabric (all from her shop) so much she wants the shop sample to have the same fabrics!

Another gate :)

Well, since we have this new dog, we needed a way to keep her close while we acclimated her to her new home. We had always intended to enclose the back yard to create our secret garden area, but Sasha pushed the project forward. Soon she will have the run of the entire 2.6 acres and can go gopher hunting all she wants in the front of the house where I don't have flowers planted.

Sasha

This is Sasha, our new dog. She is a Rottweiler rescue, about 2 years old, and we have had her for 3 weeks. Hew owner gave her up and it was discovered that she was pregnant. She had 13 puppies, 10 survived and there were multiple fathers. We think she was used as a puppy mill and was very abused. She is now a very happy dog. She is gaining weight and is very devoted to me. She sleeps on a blanket on the floor next to my side of the bed. She is learning to trust and I have discovered that she digs for gophers! I don't think she has found one yet, but she sure is trying.
