Christmas Placemats

I am having lots of fun making these placemats and having them in my finished stash pile for gift giving when I need something. These are in Christmas fabrics :) Hmmm... might just make a pretty quilt too!

Twice as Nice Quilt

The May program for my quilt guild was the Twice as Nice quilt pattern by Eleanor Burns. One of our members is an accredited teacher and she got the patterns and rulers for us. I don't know why it's called Twice as Nice when it makes 3 quilts, but that is just me :)

Finished projects!

I have been working on finishing a bunch of my projects so I will have a pretty long post :)

First are some placemats: The red and black placemats are for my daughter, Jessica and the other 2 were samples used in a class I taught at guild.

Now I have 2 tablerunners to show you: The first one is made from leftover pieces from all the 2 1/2" strips I have been using to make quilts lately. I saw this at Barbara's 2013 sew-in. The second one is made from the leftover blocks from two other quilts I made using those same 2 1/2" strips.

Here is the quilt made from Barbara's sew-in 2013. A very simple pattern and all the kits came from her stash of fabrics... what a stashbuster!

Karen's quilt

Just finished quilting this antique quilt top for a friend. It was stained a little and the stains did not come out, but they are less noticeable now that it is quilted and it really has that "old" look. I think she will be very happy with the result.

Newest Creation

I just came back from a quilt retreat and this quilt is what I made during that wonderful weekend.

The quilt was inspired by a picture in the Keepsake Quilting catalog for a quilt named "Prism Pyramids" and the quilt in the catalog was made from pre-cut 2 1/2" strips of hand dyed fabric. I had just gone through my hand dyed fabric before I saw this quilt and had cut 2 1/2" strips from a lot of the yardage I have. I have been playing with 2 1/2" strips in an attempt to use up some of my stash. So when I saw this quilt, I was inspired to create my own. The black sashing was added after I had sewn together the sets of 60 degree triangles into three columns. I have almost enough scraps left over to make a scrappy border around the whole quilt. After I get it quilted, I will bind it in black fabric to finish off the frame and then it will hang in our bedroom. When you enter our house, you will be able to see most of the quilt as you look down the hallway.
