March Quiltathon

Chuck was up at 5 this morning with an upset stomach and stayed home from work so I didn't get as much done as I hoped, but I did finish 2 quilts and a couple of small projects. I had made more 16 patch blocks with the leftover strips from the baby quilt last week. I got one top put together with another 20 blocks left for another quilt.

I finished the binding on the Rail Fence Quilt and the Baby Quilt and that will add to my Stash Busting :)

When Eileen came over last week, she had the pattern for this legal pad cover so I borrowed it and made one.

I have needed a pincushion/trash bag for the long arm for some time. The one I had wouldn't stay on the poles when I was pinning or unpinning. I think this one will stay, I made it so the pincushion drapes over the poles instead of balancing on it.

February Quiltathon

Not getting much of anything done this weekend, or this week for that matter. Tuesday morning I woke and was unable to keep my balance. It got better during the day, but was back Wednesday morning and then again Thursday. Since this has never happened to me before, I was a bit scared so we made an appointment to see our doctor. It only took him a minute of questions and then me following the light with my eyes for a diagnosis. I have a viral infection in my inner ear and there's not much that can be done about it except take dramamine for the wobbliness. We also stopped in and saw the chiropractor and he adjusted my neck and that has helped a lot, but yesterday I rarely emerged from the recliner in the living room as I had a raging headache most of the day. Today is much better, but the energy level is not where it should be.

I did accomplish one thing... made a pair of socks when my eyes would focus!


Since it is a Quiltathon
weekend, I have also been working on a baby quilt for my "tall daughter" Amy. Amy's dad built our house and she went to high school with our daughter and we love her just like she's our own. Once the quilt is finished and off to Amy, I will post a picture, but not until then. I don't want her to see it since she reads my blog :)

End of January Quiltathon

I didn't get nearly as much done today as I thought I would. Went to church this morning and by the time I got home around 11, I just wasn't in the mood to do much quilting. I did do the quilting on this quilt that I already had loaded on the Voyager.

This quilt was the "surprise" two years ago at the Jackie Robinson New Mexico retreat. She provided the fabric for the top and the pattern. This was her "Fuschia" line of fabric. All I need to do to finish it is the binding, probably tomorrow.

Quiltathon progress

I'm getting some of my tops finished! This is the 5th time I've made this tabletopper/wallhanging and the second time in this color scheme. I just love this pattern and need to have at least one on hand to give as a gift so I'll probably keep making them. The quilt was first found at:

I revised the pattern with inspiration from one of the Yahoo groups I am a member of and made it octagonal instead of square.

These next two quilts are the same pattern, but with the colors arranged two different ways. This was a Spidron workshop I did in one of my Yahoo groups in August, 2007. This is the definition according to Wikipedia: In geometry, a spidron is a continuous flat geometric figure composed entirely of triangles, where, for every pair of joining triangles, each has a leg of the other as one of its legs, and neither has any point inside the interior of the other. The first quilt is how the pattern was done for the workshop. The second quilt I did because I wanted to see how the colors made up stars within stars.

Pre-Quiltathon Accomplishments

Yesterday I worked on getting things ready for this weekend's Quiltathon. I finished the August BOM yesterday, the September BOM this morning and the December BOM this afternoon. My embroidery machine needs to go into the shop to be cleaned and adjusted so I won't be doing any more embroidery on these blocks.

I only have the November block left to do and then I am done with this project!

January Quiltathon

I'm getting projects ready to do this weekend for Judy's Quiltathon

I have a quilt on the Voyager frame and several small ones waiting to be quilted on my Bernina. I plan on working on Christmas presents for 2009... want to get an early start!!!!! Finishing my calendar BOM from guild is on the list too.

Quiltathon Update

Accomplished on Saturday...

Finished the quilting on Eileen's quilt.

Got all the pieces cut for another Heart to Heart quilt.

Finished all 161 of the A Arcs for the Wedding Star Quilt... still have to trim them to the seam allowance, but will save that for another time.

Don't think there is any sewing going to happen today. My daughter is on her way to the house with lunch. She has a cold so we won't be making popcorn balls using jello as scheduled. Jello, you ask... yes! I'll post pictures and the recipe when we do make them.

Quiltathon interrupted

I started making these ornaments several days ago and still had some to make and my Bernina is in the shop so that left me with my Babylock as my primary sewing machine. I didn't want to stop in the middle of making these so I cut all the pieces for my Heart to Heart quilt while the machine was humming away. Then I ate lunch... and then got caught up in blogging on the computer. Not making a whole lot of progress on the Quiltathon :(

Let the Quiltathon begin!

Today is a good day for Judy's December Quiltathon weekend.

I just finished quilting Eileen's christmas gift for her husband.

Now I plan on working on Jessa's wedding quilt. Hopefully she will get it before her first anniversary. It's a king sized quilt with lots of paper piecing so it will take some time to finish. I'm almost done with Arc A, but still have all 160 something of Arc B to do, then on to the melons and star points. This is a Judy Neimeyer pattern called Wedding Star. I keep the pieces of the quilt in a pizza box which makes it easier to tote around when I want to work on it somewhere other than home, like Busy Bee Quilt Shop when I only have one student to teach, or UFO night.

Then, when I am tired of paper piecing, I'm going to work on making another Heart to Heart quilt. I really love this pattern and may use this one as a table topper since I already have one quilt up on the wall in the living room.

Quiltathon a Success!

Well, even though I didn't get as much done as I wanted to, I still got 4 of my six projects finished and I'm happy. Yesterday I finished quilting Marilyn's quilt, called and left her a message that it was done, she called me back and came right over and was so excited about how the quilt looked. I finished the Christmas Bell Wallhanging. I finished the Poppy Quilt I had started at the S'Mores Retreat back in May.








And I got the border on this quilt called "Reflections" - another Billie Lauder Quick Trick.

I forgot all about this quilt I had on the frame. I was quilting yesterday when the top thread broke and never got back to it. Now it is finished and ready to go back to it's owner, Marilyn from church. She will do the binding.








Then I finished one of my UFO's... the Christmas Bell Wallhanging.

Back to the Quiltathon

Now that I have the house to myself, I'm going to get back to sewing! These are the projects I intend to work on today... let's see how many I can finish :)

From left to right... in the pizza box is Jessica's wedding star quilt, in progress. That won't get finished, but I'd sure like to work on it. Then we have the Christmas Bell wallhanging I made yesterday... it just needs quilting and a few buttons for the clappers of the bells. Next is my Poppy Wallhanging... it needs binding. Straight up from that are, on the left, a quilt I have started using one of Billie's quick tricks. Two 10" square blocks will make one of each of the blocks shown. Next to that is a quilt that needs borders and once it has them, I'll take a picture of the quilt.

November 15th Quiltathon

I started yesterday on Judy's Quiltathon and managed to finally finish this tote bag.

Thanks to Judy at Patchwork Times http://www.patchworktimes.com/ for doing this Quiltathon. You would think, with my husband in Texas doing hurricane relief, that I would have gotten a lot done, but I haven't. I did manage to make this basket, which is not quilting, but sewing.








I also worked on another "Heart to Heart" wallhanging. I think I'll give this one to my neighbor, Lisa, because she will be taking care of Sasha, our Rottweiler, while I am in Baltimore next weekend visiting my son and his family, which includes a new granddaughter, Darcy :)
